Trapped on an Island with Three Things]]>I know, I probably couldn’t have thought of a more cliché concept for a post. Yet, who doesn’t love to speculate what they would do if they were trapped on an island? It’s like one of the oldest ones in the book, and it always makes for good and entertaining conversation.

Here’s the way I’m breaking this down, and also some ground rules that I want to cover. For starters, on this island I’m trapped on, I’m just assuming that I have access to food and water. Yes, I know, that probably wouldn’t be the case, but then I would just mention those types of things only. Secondly, I’m going to talk about the three things that I would take with me. Pretty simple, right? Okay, well let’s get this show on the road.

First Thing: Jennifer Love Hewitt

Yep, I think of all the celebrities that I’m most in love with, it would have to be Jennifer Love Hewitt. Everything about that woman I fell for a long time ago, from her amazing smile to her even better personality. Of course, she’s not too bad looking either. And considering that I don’t want to be left truly alone on the island that I end up getting stuck on, I think having her around would prove beneficial.

Second Thing: Cheez-Its

Yes, I know I started this whole thing by saying that I would have access to food and water, but I would have to have me some Cheez-Its. They are far and away my favorite snack food of all-time, and given the different flavor and style variations, I would be set with Cheez-Its. I certainly wouldn’t want them to be the only thing I was eating on the island, but they would more than certainly have to be there.

Third Thing: My Golf Bag

Okay, so it’s going to be very hard to not get bored on this mythical island that I end up getting trapped on. So, given my favorite thing to do is go golfing, I would bring along my golf bag. Now, you see, I’m kind of cheating here as my golf bag would be filled with everything I need (from my clubs to balls to tees and so on). Of course, I know what you’re thinking, what’s the point of playing golf on an island with no golf courses? Well, fair point, but at least I could still hit some golf balls around. I would just have to locate them, which could prove to be a tricky task.

Even I’ll say it, that’s a pretty unorthodox list, and it goes to show just how weird I really am. Well, who cares, but I just hope that I never actually end up getting stranded on an island. Then again, with the way things have been going in this world, it actually doesn’t sound like a bad alternative when thinking about it again.

My Pro Wrestling Dream Matcheshttps://techpost.io/my-pro-wrestling-dream-matches/https://techpost.io/my-pro-wrestling-dream-matches/#respondThu, 12 Nov 2020 18:57:54 +0000https://techpost.io/my-pro-wrestling-dream-matches/... My Pro Wrestling Dream Matches]]>Good old pro wrestling, some of us hate it and some of us love it. Clearly, as you can tell, I’m one of the people that love it. I’ve been a pro wrestling fan for several years and even though I haven’t watched it all live, I’m somewhat of a wrestling historian. Without question, though, my favorite wrestling time period is from the ’90s and 2000s.

As it is in wrestling, the wrestlers get older and eventually have to retire. This means that throughout the course of history, many top wrestlers have never had the chance to lace up their boots with some of the other all-time greats. As fans, we all have our personal dream matches. For me, I have four that always stand out in my mind. It would’ve been amazing had these matches happened in each of the wrestler’s respective primes.

Goldberg vs Stone Cold Steve Austin

If you were a wrestling fan during the Monday Night Wars, then you probably either preferred WCW over WWF or the other way around. During the peak, there were two guys (one from each company) that stood above the rest. Those two guys were Stone Cold (with the WWF) and Goldberg (with WCW).

Now, many people complain about Goldberg being a Stone Cold rip off, as he came after Steve Austin was already established. Regardless of how you feel about it, we can all agree that seeing the two square off way back in 1998 would’ve been one of the most hyped up matches of all-time.

Chris Benoit vs AJ Styles

Yeah, I know what Chris Benoit did. Given he’s one of my all-time favorite wrestlers, I know all about it. Now’s not the time or place to get into that, as I just want to talk about this dream match. No matter your opinion on Benoit, many agree that he’s the greatest technical wrestler that ever lived.

Then, we turn to the great AJ Styles. Talk about phenomenal, that word has best described AJ Styles for the last two decades, and he’s still going on strong. The technical and stiff style of Benoit would’ve meshed with Style’s high-flying and mat-wrestling style so perfectly. I just salivate thinking of the chemistry that these two would’ve had with one another.

Shawn Michaels vs Eddie Guerrero

The one that was so close to happening. The previous two matches pretty much never came close to happening, but this one’s a different story. As all fans of Eddie Guerrero are aware, he passed away in late 2005. It’s still easily one of the hardest deaths to get over for professional wrestling fans. The WrestleMania that was going to happen the next year (which would’ve been WrestleMania 22) was reportedly possibly going to be Shawn Michaels vs Eddie Guerrero:

I don’t often guarantee that a match would be five stars, but that one probably would have gotten the full monte. Such a shame that we never got to see these two greats go at it.

Undertaker vs Sting

Come on, you all knew this one was coming. Easily, this is the greatest missed opportunity in the history of wrestling. Back when WCW was bought out by the WWF, Sting was one of the few that never ended up coming to the WWE (the name was changed in 2002). Finally, though, in 2014, Sting finally debuted in the WWE.

From that point on, we could’ve seen Undertaker vs Sting. Sure, by then, they were both out of their primes, but it still could have been phenomenal. Instead, the one WrestleMania that Sting wrestled at, he took on The Game, Triple H. It should’ve been the Deadman and we all know it.

What if the Next Mario Kart was Dubbed Nintendo Kart?https://techpost.io/what-if-the-next-mario-kart-was-dubbed-nintendo-kart/https://techpost.io/what-if-the-next-mario-kart-was-dubbed-nintendo-kart/#respondThu, 20 Aug 2020 17:55:10 +0000https://techpost.io/what-if-the-next-mario-kart-was-dubbed-nintendo-kart/... What if the Next Mario Kart was Dubbed Nintendo Kart?]]>All of us diehard Mario Kart fans understand that the time is coming for a new entry in the series. No matter your opinion on Mario Kart 8 (I personally think it’s one of the weakest in the series), virtually all will agree that it has been too long since a new game was made in the franchise.

If you discount the port to the Switch, it has actually been over six years since we were able to enjoy some new Mario Kart action. Now, there have been some rumors circulating over the year about a potential new installment. However, they are just that, rumors. A new entry has to be coming, though, as Nintendo understands just how much money the franchise brings in every year.

Yet, I am of the belief that Nintendo could be looking to switch it up. If you remember, in Mario Kart 8, there were a lot of additions outside of what you would typically see in the series. Whether you want to talk about outside characters (such as Link) or special guest tracks (such as F-Zero), Nintendo began to expand the lore of the Mario Kart universe.

What if they decided to take the full leap in the next installment? What if the newest title was simply dubbed Nintendo Kart? It’s not too crazy to believe, and here’s how cool the game could end up being.

It Could Include All Major Nintendo Characters

Basically, the roster for this game could resemble what you see in Super Smash Bros. Think about it, a Nintendo racing game with literally all the major stars. From Mario to Link to Samus to Kirby to Fox McCloud to Captain Falcon to King Boo (had to give love to my boy), the list goes on.

While the roster couldn’t be too bloated, Nintendo could easily put 50 to 70 racers in this game. Yeah, that seems like a lot but as long as they don’t unnecessarily repeat characters (they never do that) it shouldn’t be too big of a deal.

Imagine the Track Designs and Vehicles

Not only could this game include all major Nintendo characters, but it could also include unique track designs based on the franchises of said characters. This is what really gets me excited, as the opportunities are endless for mind-blowing and enthralling tracks. There are many that could be held in space, some held in Hyrule Kingdom, and others in the good old Mushroom Kingdom.

Along with that, however, should come unique vehicles a la Diddy Kong Racing. The vehicles could be exclusive to the specific tracks that are being raced. Of course, you would also have a huge variety to choose from as that has become a staple of the franchise.

Even More Weapon Variety

The weapon variety in the franchise has always been really, really good. However, when you start throwing characters like Kirby, Fox McCloud, and Samus into the mix, the variety could be even more impressive. It really would be crazy to see Mario and friends using copy abilities and gun-type weapons, but it also could add a breath of fresh air into the gameplay.

Here really is the million-dollar question, is this something that Nintendo is actually developing? If I had to guess, I would say no, but that’s just because some of it seems too far-fetched. Even if they’re only making a regular sequel, I’ll still be happy. As long as they’re making something new!

Desert Island Gadgets: What Would You Pack?https://techpost.io/desert-island-gadgets-what-would-you-pack/https://techpost.io/desert-island-gadgets-what-would-you-pack/#respondFri, 14 Feb 2020 09:54:18 +0000https://techpost.io/desert-island-gadgets-what-would-you-pack/... Desert Island Gadgets: What Would You Pack?]]>Coming back from holiday this week, I found myself daydreaming of sun-drenched shores on a desert island. How much simpler would life be, I wondered, if I was far from civilization and had all the time in the world to relax? Then my smartphone beeped, letting me know it needed charging.

It got me thinking. If I was stranded on a desert island, or just off the grid, what gadgets would I take with me? Of course, there wouldn’t be any Wi-Fi, not to mention no means of charging my gadgets — but assuming I was stranded for just a little while, there are a few things I’d love to have with me.

We all have our favorite gadgets — but what are the ones you just can’t live without?

Here are mine…

Kindle Paperwhite

A few years ago, I’d have laughed if you said I’d ever embrace an e-reader, but here we are — it’s top of my “can’t live without” list. I’m a sucker for a good book, and most of the time, I do prefer a “real” book, whether that’s a paperback or hardback. But given how fast I read, investing in a Kindle Paperwhite has been one of the best things I’ve ever done!

Now I can store hundreds of books and take them with me wherever I go, making my luggage lighter on trips — and keeping my boyfriend happy when he inevitably ends up carrying my bags. Not to mention books are cheaper on Kindle, so I can always justify purchasing the latest crime or fantasy novel. My Kindle is a few years old now, but it remains my favorite gadget and one I can’t live without.

Asahi Pentax Camera

I’m a bit of a photography geek and after studying a course on black and white film photography a few years back, I invested in an Asahi Pentax K1000 film camera. I’d want this on any desert island escape as it doesn’t need charging, so I can take photos of the trees, the sea and the beach (provided I remember to pack a few rolls of film!) This is a really simple camera to use, and I love how it looks, so if I run into any other desert island dwellers, they’re sure to be envious.

Apple iPod Nano (and headphones)

I imagine it’s pretty peaceful on a desert island with just the sound of birdsong and the lapping of the waves… but what if I’m feeling a bit lonely? I take my old iPod Nano 4th Gen everywhere with me — despite its small size, I haven’t lost it, yet. A few times I’ve considered updating it but it’s as good as new and packed with obscure music from friends at the various jobs I’ve worked in the past, so I can always find something to listen to. I don’t remember the last time I updated it, so every time I scroll through the library, there’s a surprise waiting.

Samsung Galaxy S8 Smartphone

I really couldn’t live without my phone. Ok, so there’s unlikely to be Wi-Fi on my desert island, and probably not even 4G, but I still need my phone. Firstly, if there is 4G then I can use Google Maps to navigate my way home! And if not, there are loads of games and podcasts downloaded to keep me amused while I wait for rescue. I love my Samsung Galaxy S8. I switched from Apple to Android 18 months ago after getting fed up of constantly running out of storage space on my iPhone, and haven’t looked back since.

If I really was stranded on a desert island, I think I might put off being rescued just a little longer if I had these gadgets with me. A good book, some tunes, and my phone for games — plus my camera for those essential desert island snapshots. What more could a girl need?
